How it works · From their photo to their character

Your child, the hero — from a real photo.

Upload an everyday phone photo and we turn it into an illustrated character inspired by their features, starring in their own story. Here is exactly how it works — including what happens to the photo.

01The process

How their photo is transformed

Four steps, a few minutes. You only do the first one.

  1. You upload their photo

An everyday photo from your camera roll is enough: facing the camera, in good light. No need to prepare anything or make them pose.

  2. We analyse it

The system looks at their features: hair, eyes, smile, glasses if they wear them. The process is automatic from start to finish — no person ever reviews your photo.

  1. Their character is born

It is drawn in the art style you choose, and you see it before continuing. If the likeness is off, we re-illustrate it at no cost.

  2. They star in the story

They appear on every page, living the story you choose. And the original photo, its job done, is deleted.

02The likeness

Will it really look like them?

They will recognise themselves — which is different from a carbon copy. The character is an illustration inspired by their features: their hair, their skin tone, their glasses, their smile. It is not the photo with a filter; it is a drawing made to measure, in the style of the story.

Our measure of success is simple: they open the book, point and say "that's me!".

And if it doesn't convince you: you see the character before creating the story, and if the likeness is off we re-illustrate it at no cost.

What is preserved

  • Their hair: colour, length, curls or fringe
  • Skin tone and eye colour
  • Glasses, freckles and other visible features
  • The overall expression of their face

What the style interprets

  • Proportions: comic exaggerates, watercolour softens
  • Clothing, which adapts to each story
  • The level of facial detail
03The photo

What happens to the photo you upload

It is the right question. Short answer: it is used to illustrate, nobody sees it, and it is deleted.

Used only to illustrate

Solely to generate their illustrated character. No person reviews it: the process is automatic from start to finish.

Never shared

It is not published, not passed to third parties and not used to train AI models. We comply with the European GDPR.

Deleted

It is removed from our servers after their character is created. And you can delete it yourself from your account, any time.

04Two routes

With a photo, or without one

There are two ways to create a character, and both end in the same place: an illustrated portrait that stays the same on every page. You can mix them within one story.

Recommended

You upload a photo

The photo is used once, to generate the illustrated portrait. Then it is deleted: it never reaches the engine that draws the scenes, and it is not kept in your account.

  • JPG, PNG, WebP or GIF, up to 20 MB
  • If several people appear, you point out which one with a text hint
  • Explicit consent required when the subject is a child
Nothing to upload

You describe them

You build the face in a visual editor and the system writes the description for you: 9 skin tones, 10 hair colours, 9 eye colours, 4 eye shapes and 7 distinctive features.

  • No photograph needed at all
  • You add by hand whatever the avatar cannot show
  • Ideal for invented characters, or if you would rather not upload photos

Both routes lead to the same story. Only how the character is born changes.

05On mobile

The whole process, from the sofa

The photo already lives on your phone, so that is the natural place: upload, pick a style, review the character and read the story — without touching a computer.
