Hugo had a shiny new potty. It waited by the bathroom wall. Hugo peeked at it. Then he peeked away.

The potty gave a tiny PING. —Hello, Hugo! I am the Brave Little Potty. I have waited my whole life for a hero like you.

Hugo blinked. A hero? He touched his chest. —Me?

—Yes, you! First, we practice sitting.

Hugo sat. The potty counted: —Three, two, one!

Nothing happened. Not one plop. —My pee is hiding, Hugo said.

They did a silly victory dance anyway. WIGGLE, WIGGLE, hooray!

Later, Hugo tried again. He sat tall. He counted with the potty. —Three, two, one!

A little toot went POOT. Hugo jumped, then giggled. —Was that a trumpet?

—A tiny one!

Still no pee. They danced again. Every try got a cheer and two happy stomps.

That afternoon, Hugo hurried toward the potty. But SPLASH—a puddle landed on the floor. Hugo froze. His smile slipped.

The potty spoke softly: —Heroes try again.

Hugo took a breath. He helped wipe the puddle. Then he shrugged. —Next time, legs, please hurry!

The potty giggled.

The next morning, Hugo felt a wiggle inside. He stopped playing. He listened.

—Potty, I think it is time!

He hurried over and sat. Together they counted slowly. —Three, two, one...

Hugo waited. His toes curled. His hands held still. Then came a brave little PLOP.

The potty cheered: —Hugo did it! Hip, hip, hooray!

Hugo laughed so hard that his victory dance became a wobbly spin. He nearly danced past the bathroom door. —Again! But slower!

They stomped twice, clapped three times, and whispered one proud little hooray together.

That night, Hugo placed his teddy bear beside the potty. —Do not worry. We practice first, he said.

Hugo showed Teddy the sitting drill. They counted, danced, and cheered. Nothing happened, of course. Teddy was stuffed.

Hugo hugged him close. —Heroes try again tomorrow.

The potty gave one PING.

Children's story · 1-4 years

Hugo and the Brave Little Potty begins with a shiny new potty waiting by the bathroom wall and a three-year-old who is not so sure about it. Then the potty gives a tiny PING and introduces itself: it is the Brave Little Potty, and it has waited its whole life for a hero exactly like Hugo.

Together they train like champions. There are sitting drills with a friendly countdown, a wiggly victory dance for every single try, and a special cheer for the real thing. When a puddle lands on the floor, the potty simply says the magic words, "heroes try again", and Hugo shrugs, helps wipe up, and keeps going. Every attempt counts, and nothing is ever a failure.

It is a warm, funny, shame-free potty training story for children roughly 1 to 4, perfect for reading at home while your little one gets ready to say goodbye to diapers, or for sharing during daycare and preschool circle time.

A potty that talks back, in the best way

In Hugo and the Brave Little Potty, three-year-old Hugo has a shiny new potty waiting by the bathroom wall, and he is not at all sure what to make of it. Everything changes when the potty gives a tiny PING and announces that it is the Brave Little Potty, a hero-in-training that has been waiting its whole life for a partner exactly like Hugo.

What follows is not a lecture about using the toilet. It is a team adventure. Hugo and his potty practice together, celebrate together, and handle the bumps together, turning a big-kid milestone into something a toddler actually wants to join in on.

What your little one takes away

Beneath the giggles, the story quietly models the mindset that makes potty training work: patience, repetition, and zero shame. Hugo learns through play, not pressure, and every step forward is his own.

  • Every try counts. Hugo does a victory dance even when nothing happens, because sitting down and trying is already the win.
  • Accidents are okay. When a puddle lands on the floor there is no scolding, just "heroes try again" and a quick clean-up together.
  • Routines feel safe. The countdown "three, two, one!" gives Hugo a friendly, predictable ritual he can repeat on his own.
  • Confidence grows. By the end, Hugo feels brave enough to pass on everything he has learned to someone smaller.

Now imagine it starring your child

Hugo's story lands even harder when the hero on the potty looks and sounds like your own toddler. Picture a version where the brave trainee has your child's name, your child's face, and their favorite stripey shirt, cheering on every "three, two, one!" from the pages of their very own book.

How to create your own in minutes

A gift that grows with them

A personalized potty-training story is more than a book. It is a gentle, funny companion for a milestone that can feel enormous to a small person. It makes a thoughtful gift for a birthday, a new-big-kid celebration, or simply the week you decide to wave goodbye to diapers.

Is this story good for toddlers who are just starting potty training?

Yes. With very short sentences, playful sound effects, and a warm, shame-free tone, it is ideal for children roughly 1 to 4 who are getting curious about the potty.

Does it push or pressure a child to perform?

Not at all. The whole message is that every attempt counts and accidents are normal, so it supports your child's own pace instead of rushing it.
